The Challenge
An 867-page medical reference book with over 600 clinical photographs and illustrations, dense data tables throughout, and a 34-page index. The content demands of a clinical reference — precision, legibility under pressure, navigability across nearly 900 pages — had to be met without sacrificing the visual authority of a book published under the Stanford Medicine name.
The Solution
Complete book design from cover to index. Interior layout and typography system designed for sustained clinical use — clear hierarchy, consistent chapter structure, and a grid that handles images, tables, and dense prose without becoming cluttered. Image placement and color management for 600+ clinical photos. Table design that makes complex data readable at a glance. Cover design appropriate to a Stanford Medicine publication. Finished as a 7×10" four-color reference book.
